City Palace in Udaipur – A Pearl of India

It is so hard for me to imagine this life without travelling, without an incredible feeling of the unity with the whole world. So, making lots of trips, recently, India has become my choice. I would love everyone to feel what I felt the moment when I got to the City Palace in Udaipur. As Udaipur is also considered to be The City of Lakes, the City Palace is situated on the east bank of the lake Pichola. One of the monks pointed to this place when Maharana Udai Singh was going to build it. The complex of the palaces is a picture of an exotic greatness. It won’t take you a lot of time to get there due to a quite good traffic interchange.

As soon as you get there, for the first several moments, it’s extremely hard to listen to the guide who is telling you about all of the additions that were made by each ruler as the glory and splendor of the palace are hypnotizing. And it’s hard to believe that the whole construction wasn’t planned this way at once and that something was changed later because it looks very harmonious. One of the most unique features of this place is a combination of Medieval, Chinese and European styles.When you look at it, it seems to appear from the mist as a huge statue of majesty.

It’s senseless to describe beauty of the hanging gardens that is a real wonder of the World! You will find it at the “Amar Vilas”. It is the highest point of the City Palace and one of the most amazing places to visit. Don’t forget to walk to the Peacock Square which is decorated with mosaic peacocks playing with golden, blue and green colors in the rays of the sun. Miniature paintings will surprise you with the scrupulous work of painters and it is easy to forget about the time watching them.

Lots of Bollywood movies were filmed in the City Palace. One of the biggest hotels of the world is located here – it is a former residence of the royalty. Nowadays it is also a popular place for organization of religious celebrations and celebrating weddings and birthdays of members of royal families. Stepping up on the territory of the City Palace, you feel like a royal, you can experience it at the nearest time.
